Home sick in bed

I woke up today and felt like I was beat up and left for dead in the middle of the night. Real sore around the upper back and shoulders. I resisted the get-up and you'll feel better dialogue that was going through my mind. Mostly feeling guilty about not showing up at work. I am never sick. But I stayed in bed and actually slept until 11:30, which tells me I really needed the rest. I don't think I have the flu, just a residual tiredness from my big weekend. I watched a little TV in afternoon. I flicked around the programs and I will never understand the common man obsession with celebrities. I just don't find the fascination with the lifestyle of the rich and famous. If we probably knew them like we knew our friends we would probably disdain them. Huge egos and high maintenance, what is really to admire? After picking up Bubs from school we picked up his glasses, they look real cute. When I got home I felt a little ill again so I got back in bed and watched "21", a movie based on real-life MIT students that put a system of card counting to use in Vegas. It was really entertaining for me and I would recommend it. Gotta love anything with Kevin Spacey in it.
Not that anything I have written about is real cheery, but the rest of this blog is a real bummer. I found out yesterday that one of our friends that had a recent surgery was diagnosed with Peritoneal mesothelioma which develops in the abdomen’s peritoneum, a layer that covers the abdominal cavity and surrounds abdominal organs. I had to copy that from one of the medical websites I have been visiting. I know doesn't sound like my writing. Anyway is is a very rare and aggressive form of abestos cancer. They took out many tumors. Hopefully she can kick this and I know if anyone can its her because she is young and vibrant and in good general health. So say a prayer for Janie. I hope the medical technology out there combined, good karma, a great amount of prayer can cure the girl and give her the long life she deserves. good night. C.

The rest of the story

Okay here's the punch line......
Looking out towards South Park, below is highway 24. I will never take these sights for granted.
This is the reason I had such a stinking hang-over Sunday. Not Sue, the wine. I started drinking this wine and trying that wine and then I had some of that wine and then most people went over to Cyn's for Char and Suze's birthday party, take 5. I have to admit I don't remember much after being there. I know I was among friends and I did wake up in my bed in my pajamas with my man,and no one laughed when they saw me at the Bronco game. (Well they might have.) They did ask so "How are YOU feeling today" and I answered "like crap thanks" So I will try to reign in on the drinking again. Its like a religious experience when that happens like I open my eyes to it a little more. I am pushing 50 you know plus I am somebody's mother (times 2).
Crab Fest all you can eat $10. Thats a deal especially when you consider the entertainment...
Running the ATV'S near Badger mountain, 50 miles west of Colorado Springs.
Amber found this mud puddle and hit it approximately 100 times. To be a kid again.
The yellow of the Aspen has hit Colorado high country. The Springs is looking pretty fall-like as well, his is my favorite time of year. Yay.
On a different topic.... today while driving around I saw a sign that said 'boneless chicken wings $3.99" or some such thing. Do not fall for this. It is not a wing if it has no bone, sorry just a piece of knowledge I picked up from living by Buffalo in my younger years. Is meat shaped like a bone with wing sauce just thought you'd like to know.
I watched a movie last night staying up past midnight, which might explain why I am dead tired. It had Daniel Craig in it," Flashbacks of a Fool". It was pretty good coming of age, tragedy, some good scenery about how a washed up movie star on drugs and drink comes to terms with what has made him spiral after the death of his childhood best friend. Kept me watching past my bedtime. Kinda disjointed, but a recommend from me.

where do I began

I am getting way too old for drinking like a rock star. It started last Thursday. Yes Survivor night but also Charlotte and her sister Suze's big bday. They were born on the same day 10 years apart with their sister Cyn in the middle. Anyway I kept it to a low roar and Had a few glasses of wine and we had a very nice dinner and little cake and gifts party.
Survivor, if I can remember was a good show. That jerk Russell is just the biggest ass-wipe this show has seen since Johnnie Fairplay. I think he's worse actually. The lady cop was shown the door after she was dubbed the weakest. Of coarse my two players (we draw names) are just not quality people. The one dude was the first contestant ever kicked out of a challenge and my girl was the one he tackled and she preceded to bitch him out a his own campfire. Geez I will not be winning the $5 grand prize again.
Friday was a hard day at work. I got home later than sooner and got the house together (again) for the King's visit. We did not stay up very late and again I held myself to a glass of wine or two. We got up early to go ATVing up by Badger Mountain area. It was a very beautiful day around 60-70 degrees. Some trees had turned but lower where we unloaded the aspens were lime green. I'd say they will peek in two weeks in that area. We did a 30 mile loop and got home around 3:30. After 8 showers we got the food together and 18 people joined together for a crab fest. King crab.
More tomorrow with photos.......

Its Friday!

Just a quick update to say our cat Rae came out of her funk and is now back to her usual baby-cat self.  Mags did her triple jump event on Tuesday.  They ended up canceling the meet early because on windchill, I know too early for that.  The King's family from Fort Collins arrives this evening.  We plan on riding ATV's Sat. day and then crab fest Sat. night.  Then of coarse Broncos VS raiders on NFL Sunday, and bears vs whoever too.  So here's to a good and safe weekend.  Weather looks good in Colorado!

Worried about Rae

Yesterday I took my baby tortie Rae to the vets for her shots and blood work. She hates 1. getting in a box 2. riding in a car. 3. Getting examined 4. Getting shots 5. getting blood drawn. and the rest. I know what cat likes all that? You definitely don't see them riding around in cars. So she is still hiding under my bed 28 hours later, no food, or drink. I got her out for a short time and she limped and cried and ran back under. So I am so worried. I did a search on-line and evidently this is a common side effect to rabies vaccination. ugggh.
She was perfectly fine before I took her in and now $250.00 later I am worried SICK.

If you've had a life lately, you may not have heard that we got snow in Colorado. The Springs area did not get snow but we had a freeze warning. Guess what I did in the 40 degree sleet? I brought in all my plants that cannot take a freeze. It looked like this on my back patio. About 40 plants distributed throughout the house, most till next Spring. Guess we'll get a lot of oxygen in the house.

Getting ready for Halloween?.. Not really, my husband was just cleaning out the shed and got bones out. Scarey Santa, in back, is the scarecrow in the summer, a witch at Halloween and Scarey Santa in the winter.
I shot this hibiscus flower just before bringing in the tree. One of my favorite blooms.
Stay warm and be good, and say a pray for old Rae will ya?

Baby its cold outside

Ok, got on-line to check out football scores last night and look at the first search's headline:

Jay Cutler shines in Chicago Bears' 17-14 home win

How cool is that, he was listening. The Broncos also played well, but they still haven't gone against a really good team yet. Yay Buffalo Bills too.
Well I gotta get moving and get outside to get those un-hardy plants in. It could freeze tonight. Good thing I waited until today its raining and about 40 degrees out, boo hoo.

Am I a ninja or not?

Yesterday I did little more than nothing. I like things clean so I picked up ect. and then spent some time finding interesting or witty (or both) blogs to follow. I cleaned-up my profile of my own blog, taking out that I am a mother fuckin ninja. I just thought if someone was thinking about reading my ramblings about myself they might not want to read them if I was in fact a ninja, (a mother fuckin one at that), how crude could one be. On the other hand that may be intriguing to a reader. "Oh this seems better than wholesome", "check this out this photographer and housewife is also a big MF ninja" That combined with the fact I've never attacked anyone that I can think of I decided to clean up the language. So a little more than a month of serious blogging and I am having an identity crisis. The truth of the matter is I am more like a mother bear. My daughter even calls me "Bear" as a nickname. I said," great its cause I am so big ". She assured me no, its beacuse I look after my family like a mother who would kill for their safety. I like that. Maybe I'll add that to my profile.
Anyway another sleepless night, woke up to some paid commercial for the biggest country collection re-digitally master for only 4 payments of $39.95. I listened to it for awhile liking some of the songs from the 50s and 60s thinking my Dad would really like it. He's 87 and that would get his giddy-up.
Today is NFL football Sunday, watching Broncos VS Cleveland this afternoon. The Chicago VS whoever game is on a channel we do not get, so I'll put out a shout out in cyber-space to my favorite QB Jay Cutler,GO JAY kick some mid-west football ass today. SHINE today. And you all SHINE today too.

Nice day

I never sleep good whenever G's out of town. He and Madge went up to the mts. to ATV with the King family and check out the aspen. I'm hanging out at home with Bubba while he recoups. Anyway, I usually sleep with the TV on I wake up in the middle of the night, listening for strange noises ect. and it's never a good sleep. So when my cell phone rang at 9:15 am I really hadn't slept in, but it was the best stretch I 'd had all night. (Just got off the phone with G, they had a great day with a 60 mile ride with the aspens 50% turned(Gore pass). Anyway, it was the Goat Lady wanting to know if there was supposed to be an article with the photo and I said they probably didn't have space. Then she wondered why the photo ran B/W. I wanted to tell her, geez, take what you can get, but I'd be glad to print a photo next week and bring it over so the kids could check out the goats and dogs. She wasn't rude but it was a rude thing to deal with right off the bat.
I cleaned and did laundry then took a ride with Bubs to pick-up my old guitar after it had been at the shop for over a month. I had the nut bridge fixed. (I know what your thinking, its a guitar). Got it home and tuned it up and it sounds pretty good. I initially tuned it up backwards forgetting the string order to Every Acid Dealer Gets Busted Eventually (EADGBE) from top to bottom. I am totally loosing my memory. Last night I had the first deal in poker and dealt backwards. Thats pretty bad when you consider I taught them all how to play.
Couldn't ask for better weather today probably 75 degrees and mild evening. I see it dips in the thirties by Monday night so tomorrow I 'll wash up all my tropicals to bring in for the season. I know my favorite trees, hibiscus, bouganvilla, orange, the ferns and poinsettas are not Colorado natives but they are mine.

OK no more politics, now or evah

Penrose ApplesTook a ride down to Penrose/Canon City area Wednesday. What a beautiful drive! This kid (26) bought an apple orchard a few years back and lost his entire crop to frost the first season. Anyway he's back for a second season and things are looking good. He said he loved growing up in Penrose, enough to stick around.

The Winery at Holy Cross
The first stop was the Winery at the Holy Cross Abbey in Canon City. They were crushing grapes and you would not believe the smell in the air. They were producing a rose called Wild Canon Harvest where they take any variety of local grape grown by townsfolk and make a blend. It comes out in November just before Thanksgiving and it sells like hotcakes. The best part about it if you give over 20 lbs of grapes your name is on the back label. How cool is that. There wines are not cheap but I bought 2 bottles and an Asian BBQ sauce.Yummy.

Goats at Bear CreekToday I photographed the goats in Bear Creek Park. They come once a year to eat up the weeds and keep the grasses low. They are so cute, cuter yet was the border collies used to herd them up.

Survivor
You guessed it, Thursday was the first Survivor night and we had a great time. This is the finest show on TV hands down. Well probably not but we sure like it. We had steak and skewerd shrimp ( with asian BBQ sauce) and sides and we piled our plates and watched the show without a peep in the room except munching and the occasional grunt and moan for talking with our mouths full. I'll have to say it seems like a good crew with some other type of characters. I cannot stand the one dude who poured out the canteens and burnt his own team's socks while they slept. The guys a multi millionaire that just there to prove he can manipulate and will. He's an ass. (Almost got through a post without foul language) I did manage to drink an entire bottle of Holy Cross Syrah. I know foolish to do since it was a work night. But I got enough sleep so just a little worn out today.

Track and such
This is Maggie's BFF Cauleen. I take pictures of her too since her mom isn't able to make a fool of herself and walk around the field with long lenses.
Mags told her coach about her foot problems so her put her in shot put. She thought she was being punished and I told her what do you expect him to do? Have you measure the long jump? She did well coming in fourth. Maybe she'll run next week.
My Son Bubba is recovering from surgery from where they took extra tissue from his breasts. its called gynemastia and it effects a lot of boys. Usually they grow and it goes away or gets less but for him it didn't. Cyn said it was like getting a kid's braces you gotta take care of things like that so they can have a normal life without taking shit from cruel assholes. Anyway they took out a lot of tissue and he's doing well. Insurance didn't cover the surgery but we found the credit and were fortunate to have it. I feel bad for others that can't afford it, it wasn't cheap. If I ever get money and will form a foundation that pays for such things cause let me tell you it really matters, even if they say it doesn't, it does.
And because this post has been entirely too serious:

Nancy Pelosi has finally lost it

*Reader Alert, IF you get upset by other's views of the political arena you may not want to read this***************************************************************************************Excuse Excuse me, sorry to become so political of late, but Nancy Pelosi has finally pissed me off enough I have to respond. The gall to use fake emotions and compare people who don't care for the health reform package to people invoking violence in gay rights of the 70's just kills me. Milk was murdered by a fellow DEMOCRAT you stupid shit. If there's any violence that comes forward from this I will hold her responsible. There's always fringe looney-toones people on both sides of the spectrum. The race card didn't work so she plays the gay card. Paaleeze, you make me ill,
love, carol

I am sick of this race card issue

Thats right, quit playing the race card when people disagree with any minority, yes that's right, I am sick and tired of this defense. Hey, I don't always agree with the president but I reserve the right to do so without being labeled a racist. I am sure there's racism alive and well in this country but the black people are the ones that will not let it die. These people out protesting taxation and big government are doing so because they don't like it. They are being written off as a bunch of crazy racists cause the White House doesn't want to deal with them. Don't like health care reform, you must be a racist, giving Kanya West heat over being an ass?,racist,Serena Wilson acting like a brat and they're calling her on it?, racism. Making Michael Vick pay cause he caused the torture and death of dogs?, racism. There's Jimmy Carter stirring the pot, please haven't you've done enough already? We need unification not another way to to create a chasm. Please can everyone take responsibility for their actions? It's always someone else's fault. Its elitism at its finest folks, and I am not buying it.

Showing respect,cool t-shirt and Zion

Zion National Park
I edited through my shoot from the Canyons' trip I took in the Spring with my family. I have yet to send the in-laws the photos from there. Partly because they expect it and partly because I've been busy. More so because I don't think they treat me well. My son points out that I act like I am so angry. I guess he's right. I don't know why I just can't get over that. He calls me out on a lot of my deficiencies. It's different when your 14 year old is just saying chill. Its easier to see.
We were in the car yesterday and he told me he listens to some you-tube commentations but one dude is so sexists and he thinks this is so wrong, so wrong and just as wrong as racism. The kid is so even keeled and smart, he is a self-described nerd, who writes computer code, loves cats and wouldn't hurt a fly. This is seen as a downfall to some friends who think he should hunt, shoot guns, play football, drink and be in all sorts of trouble like they were as teens. I am proud to be his mom and I know he's going places. I thinks these friends are confused. He's a great kid, just not theirs, so kiss my ass.
I found this T-shirt from list of the day's ad for Busted T's. I love it and I think I will get it from my friend's Charlotte's B-day. What a hoot it's so her.

I copied this illo from a display board from a school where I shot an assignment this morning. Pretty primitive but as far as I am concern the lack of respect for others and their opinions are the number one reason for the huge polarization in this world today. That's as close as I will get to a political statement, today anyway.

Football and more random thoughts

With the help of a horrible Cincinnati Bengals Team the Denver Broncos managed to pull a last minute win when one of Orton's wobbly passes was deflected off the helmet of the intended receiver and it popped in the air and CB Stokely ran it in to the end zone for a 13-7 Bronco win. It was a lack luster game and Kyle Orton didn't have much to do with the win. Wait until they get a real opponent.
On the Bear's front,Don't worry Jay will be just fine. When it was all said and done the Bears had won time of possesion, more 1st downs, and yards than the vaunted GB Packer offense that has been together for one full season. Sports writers and other nay-sayers are already writing Cutler off, oh ye of little faith.
ps I hate the patriots just beat my Bills
ok ok enough football here's some more random thoughts I copied from an email

Was learning cursive really necessary?

Lol has gone from meaning, "laugh out loud" to "I have nothing else to say".

I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.

Answering the same letter three times or more in a row on a Scantron test is absolutely petrifying.

My brother's Municipal League baseball team is named the Stepdads. Seeing as none of the guys on the team are actual stepdads, I inquired about the name. He explained, "Cuz we beat you, and you hate us." Classy, bro.

Whenever someone says "I'm not book smart, but I'm street smart", all I hear is "I'm not real smart, but I'm imaginary smart".

How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear what they said?

I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars teams up to prevent a dick from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers!

While driving yesterday I saw a banana peel in the road and instinctively swerved to avoid it...thanks Mario Kart.

MapQuest really needs to start their directions on #5. Pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.

I find it hard to believe there are actually people who get in the shower first and THEN turn on the water.

Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.

I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.

Bad decisions make good stories

Whenever I'm Facebook stalking someone and I find out that their profile is public I feel like a kid on Christmas morning who just got the Red Ryder BB gun that I always wanted. 546 pictures? Don't mind if I do!

Is it just me or do high school girls get sluttier & sluttier every year?

If Carmen San Diego and Waldo ever got together, their offspring would probably just be completely invisible.

Why is it that during an ice-breaker, when the whole room has to go around and say their name and where they are from, I get so incredibly nervous? Like I know my name, I know where I'm from, this shouldn't be a problem....

You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you've made up your mind that you just aren't doing anything productive for the rest of the day.

Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after DVDs? I don't want to have to restart my collection.

There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.

"Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this ever.

Some random thoughts

Some Random thoughts from a forward; thought I'd do a few at a time:

I wish Google Maps had an "Avoid Ghetto" routing option.

More often than not, when someone is telling me a story all I can think about is that I can't wait for them to finish so that I can tell my own story that's not only better, but also more directly involves me.

Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

I don't understand the purpose of the line, "I don't need to drink to have fun." Great, no one does. But why start a fire with flint and sticks when they've invented the lighter?

Have you ever been walking down the street and realized that you're going in the complete opposite direction of where you are supposed to be going? But instead of just turning a 180 and walking back in the direction from which you came, you have to first do something like check your watch or phone or make a grand arm gesture and mutter to yourself to ensure that no one in the surrounding area thinks you're crazy by randomly switching directions on the sidewalk.

I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

The letters T and G are very close to each other on a keyboard. This recently became all too apparent to me and consequently I will never be ending a work email with the phrase "Regards" again.

Other than that, lazy day. I did take the recycling over to the plant. Doing laundry and planning a Bronco soiree for the morning game. I'd be more excited if it was 1) a division game 2) an afternoon game 3) if jay cutler was QB, thanks McDaniels, I think your a total douche.
Today is a total fall day here in Colorado. Coudy, cool and drizzly rain, football weather.

Remembering 9/11

I always dread some anniversaries like 9/11 and 4/19-- 4/20(Columbine,Waco,OK City bombing). I understand why they are to be memorialized. We should never forget the victims. That being said I cringe knowing that copycats could and would use these dates to go down in their own rewriting of history.
My first assignment this morning was going to a local high school to an JROTC 9/11 memorial. I was more emotional than I thought I was going to be. I will admit that cheeseball song "I am proud to be an American" always gets me. Always. I had to put my sunglasses down on my nose even though it was 50 degrees and very overcast, to hide any tears.
On my way back to the paper I met the dude that it in the photo with the flag. He goes by Flag Guy,seeing he has proudly waved the giant flag on this corner every anniversary of 9/11. He even had a certificate from an army officer that appreciated his efforts so much he bought him a flag flown over Iraq. The certificate was made out to flag guy. He told me he was a cook that worked tow jobs to keep his life going and took a few hours off to stay out there for the day.
Last night I watched a few of those 9/11 documentaries on Discovery. Pretty brutal. At least I knew what was coming. I couldn't fathom being there but I kinda wish I was. Not in the building, just in eyesight.

Track time

Maggie is on the 7th grade track team at her school. I am thrilled. However she has had an injured heel/ankle for about a month now and she can't stay off it and it prohibiting her running/jumping. Her relay team ended up third, and the running prompted her ankle to hurt, so when I showed up she had that crying/talking type of voice and said she didn't want to jump cause it hurt. Then she got her gumption off and went down and jumped. Her longest jump was a foul, her toe over the jump line. It would have been a winner. The judges weren't sure if she fouled so they asked her and she said she thought so. I would have said,"your the judge, what do you think?" however she is very honest and saw the foul. She came in fifth with her injured jump. I am gonna wrap her ankle next week to see if this helps.

Happy 9-9-09

I am big into numerology in its very simplist form. Double numbers, triple numbers even better. I am shocked myself I did not celebrate this day in better form, maybe next time, wait there's no next time.

Great weekend update

The drive out to the campsite ended up being AOK. The son, who was actually 20 was very nice and intelligent and Bubba was interested in his software knowledge. The Dad, G2's co-worker was also very talkative. I guess he's good friends with our editor, who I am sure is a very nice man but looks down to his shoes when I walk by. Which is one of the reasons I am very nervous when it comes to lay-offs using the equation : look down at shoes+don't smile+don't say hello= your not all that important= lets let her go( or who ta hell is she?).
Anyway the camping trip was fun. The first night some of the adults got into a very heated argument about healthcare. It came to in your face hollering. Then it ended and we played some music, drank some and carried on a bit. It was crazy Bob, Chuck and I left at the fire and they got into a huge word fight about where Bob pulled his camper in. OMG they acted like Jr High schoolers. Love them both but alcohol and stubbornness after midnight can only amount to no good. They avoided each other the rest of the weekend.
We went on a couple really good rides. Bob and I were three for three as the last ones up at the fire each night. One thing you can say about him is he is consistent. The guy sings loud, plays over everyone but he knows a lot of songs and I have to say its a lot of fun. The turkey meal was great and the kids all seemed to get along great so what's not to like. And I didn't even swear this whole post almost.

putting the labor back in Labor Day

Anyway G2 wanted to leave early for this labor day camp a rama we go on each year. His guilt led him to fetch me a ride from a guy he works with and the guy's 17 year old son. G2 said "you met him at a company dinner, remember?" And I do remember, I had a conversation with him and his wife that lasted about 10 minutes of awkward small talk about his church ect. I also remember drinking G2's wine and my wine since he doesn't like it and I really do so I'm sure I was entertaining oh well at least I don't have to drive myself. Should be a fun alcohol enriched time, will tell stories upon return. Happy weekend.

The meat and potatoes

OK no more cake recipes now for the meat and potatoes. Let me explain the photo first. It was the main photo for a little project I shot and wrote about miniature horses that visit nursing homes. It turned out OK,but this photo totally makes me laugh. Here's a link to the story http://www.gazette.com/articles/residents-60620-delights-home.html
Anyway, this bankruptcy of the newspaper is pretty scary stuff. Options available are selling the whole entity or by the property. Either way I may have to apply for my job and I am just so unsure of myself. Haven't thought of what I may do. I may actually have to put out an effort. I am so tired. I know I have talent and haven't worked to my potential in some time so it could be the opening of doors for me. I got to think positive.
Going camping over the Labor Day weekend and looking forward to getting out and carrying on a bit. Some ATVing, playing guitar, playing cards, washers and drinking. Just want it to be happy times.
Tomorrow I will schedule Bubba's surgery. It is out patient and will take a few weeks to heal but should only miss two weeks of school. The kids are both doing well in school and hope for a 4.0. so will not spill the whole bag of beans but there's a few of them..tatata

Let them eat cake

Mags and I made a delicious no bake cake yesterday for times when you need to bring a dessert and you don't want to heat up the kitchen this is quick and easy.  It does want you to let it sit in the fridge for four hours before serving.  Buy chocolate wafers available in the grocery store.  I found them in a horizontal box for $4.50.  Buy a pint of whipping cream, and whip it up with a half cup of sugar and two tea spoons of vanilla. Frost the cookies with the cream and stack them up and then laying the stack down do this for four stacks of nine or ten cookies, then frost the whole log and pepper with mini chips.  OK not so healthy but don't eat the whole cake just a piece and you'll be fine. (You'll have extra whip creme for your coffee later)
On other less domestic fronts Aetna denied our son a surgery for corrective purposes.  I don't know how they sleep at night.  Anyway the damage is significantly less than thought.  On the topic of bad news our newspaper has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.  Yes one step closer to losing my job.  We will survive.  We may not be eating cake but we will survive.
